Chelsea owners bankroll £330m+ injection – unexpected details emerge

Chelsea have received a £339million injection from their owners in the form of a new share issue, sources have told Football Insider.

As per a Companies House submission, Chelsea FC Holdings Limited issued 1,000 shares on 30 June – the final day of the club’s financial year.

Each share was purchased at £339,000 per one pence share, taking the total investment to £339million.

Chelsea’s owners have made a series of cash injections into the club since taking over from Roman Abramovich in May 2022.

The latest investment comes after ownership group BlueCo, which is spearheaded by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, injected £115million at Stamford Bridge in April.

The Blues have spent heavily in the transfer market over the past three years, with their latest deals taking BlueCo’s spending on new signings to around £1.4billion.

Chelsea have added Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Estavao, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr and Kendry Paez to their ranks this summer.

Chelsea land £80m+ windfall after stunning twist

Chelsea have exploited a loophole in the Premier League rules to avoid being hit with a profit and sustainability (PSR) breach over the past couple of seasons, with top-flight clubs only permitted to lose £105million over a rolling three-year period.

The London giants sold two Stamford Bridge hotels to BlueCo in 2023 for around £70million to ensure their pre-tax losses fell from potentially as high as £166million to £90million for 2022-23.

Meanwhile, Chelsea sold their women’s team to BlueCo last summer for around £200million, helping them turn their previous £90million loss into a £128million profit for 2023-24.

The Blues’ latest accounts for 2023-24 revealed their revenue slipped from £512.5million in 2022-23 to £468.5million, but that was driven by their lack of Champions League football.

Enzo Maresca’s side have secured a return to the elite European competition for the upcoming campaign after finishing fourth in the Premier League last season.

Chelsea also landed in excess of £80million after they were crowned Club World Cup champions earlier this month.

Chelsea offer two stars in sensational Morgan Rogers swap deal

In terms of another potential incoming at Stamford Bridge, Football Insider revealed on 28 July Chelsea have made an offer for Morgan Rogers that includes two stars in a cash-plus-players exchange bid.

The Blues are now ramping up their bid to sign the Aston Villa playmaker, who is their top target for the remainder of the summer transfer window.

Villa are resisting interest in Rogers from Chelsea as well as several other Premier League rivals and have made it clear the 23-year-old is not for sale.

However, Maresca’s side are believed to have offered Nicolas Jackson and Tosin Adarabioyo as well as a cash sum to Villa in part-exchange for the England international.
