Chelsea poised to agree ‘£40m’ deal within days – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Chelsea are well placed to seal a lucrative sponsorship deal with a Middle Eastern airline.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed a potential deal could be worth around £40million per season.
Chelsea are under pressure to find a shirt sponsor for the upcoming season after starting last term with a blank kit.
The initial agreement was for the sports data company to transition to a sleeve sponsorship deal in the 2024-25 campaign.
But Football Insider revealed last month (29 May) that Chelsea are in advanced talks with Infinite Athlete to continue their front-of-shirt deal.
Chelsea well placed to seal major international sponsorship, says Wyness
Wyness claimed Chelsea are well placed to seal a new agreement with a “major international airline” if a deal cannot be struck.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Chelsea are a very valuable asset and we’ll probably see an airline sponsor come in.
“Certainly, it’ll be a deal at around the £40million mark.
“I would think that a Middle Eastern airline will come in and fill that.
“I don’t think they’ll find it that hard a deal to do considering their London location.
“I do expect a major international airline to come in. They haven’t performed that well on the pitch, but they’ll have no problems finding a sponsor.

“There won’t be many bonuses to pay out. There’s no Champions League football – so it may well work for a sponsor.
“It shouldn’t be a big problem for Chelsea to replace Infinite Athlete.”
In other news, Chelsea will “pay over the odds” to sign top target.
