Chelsea ready big-money Cole Palmer deal as talks get underway – sources

Chelsea are ready to give Cole Palmer a big-money new contract just six months into his time at the club, sources have told Football Insider.

The Blues are preparing talks with the 21-year-old over a potential new agreement.

Palmer is not currently near the highest-paid bracket of players at Stamford Bridge and it is believed he will be given a significant pay rise if a new deal is signed.

According to FBRef, the England international currently earns a weekly wage of £75,000.

He signed a contract running until June 2030 after leaving Man City for a reported fee of £42.5million after add-ons last summer (2023).

It is believed Chelsea are looking to keep Palmer happy by reflecting his importance to the side with bumper new terms.

The 21-year-old has had a stellar start to life at Stamford Bridge, notching 14 goals and 12 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions for the Blues this term.

He has played as an attacking midfielder, right winger and centre-forward for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Palmer made 41 appearances across all competitions for Man City after graduating from the club’s academy with a senior debut in September 2020, notching six goals and two assists.

The left-footer was allowed to leave the Etihad Stadium and pursue first-team football with Chelsea.

He is already a senior England international after making his debut in November 2023 and is part of the squad for this month’s friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.
