Kieran Maguire salutes Todd Boehly as Chelsea agree deal for another ex-Man City man
Tom Glick’s wealth of experience in football makes him the perfect man to head up the Chelsea board.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the American set to be appointed as the Blues’ new CEO.
The Athletic reported on Thursday (14 July) that a deal has been agreed for current chief executive Guy Lawrence to step aside in order for former Man City executive Glick to take his place.

Lawrence is the latest Chelsea grandee to step down in the Todd Boehly era after chairman Bruce Buck and influential director Marina Granovskia.
It is understood that Glick agreed to take the job last month but the West London club wanted to hold off until the signing of Raheem Sterling from City was complete.
The 27-year-old winger was announced as a Chelsea player on Monday (13 July), allowing the Blues to accelerate the process of onboarding Glick.
Maguire insists that Glick – who has also held roles at Derby County, New York City and City Football Group – represents an excellent appointment from Boehly.
“Chelsea are aware that there is a vacuum of experience at board level with both Buck and Marina leaving,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“Therefore having someone who is experienced at the elite level in the game is very useful. He is used to spinning a lot of plates at the same time. That is likely why they thought he was the right fit for Chelsea.
“He will be able to advise and guide Boehly in terms of the unique factors that are in the football industry that won’t be the same in the US sports industry with which he is familiar.”
