Chelsea sensation likened to Lamine Yamal is ‘something special’ – ‘he’s got it in spades’

Chelsea have a special talent in their ranks who has been likened to Lamine Yamal and tipped to kick on in the coming years.

Enzo Maresca’s side currently sit third in the Premier League, six points adrift of table-topping Arsenal.

On Saturday (8 November) evening, Chelsea beat Wolves 3-0 at Stamford Bridge with goals from Malo Gusto, Joao Pedro, and Pedro Neto.

The Blues have now won four of their last five Premier League games, cementing their place in the top four.

Estevao has the mentality to fulfil his potential

This season, Estevao has been one of Chelsea’s most exciting players, thrilling fans whenever he has been on the pitch.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the Brazilian has similarities to Yamal.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Estevao has the mentality to stay consistent and continue to develop.

Wyness added that he has a great chance to fulfil his potential and become a top-class player.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I go back to youth players. I’ve seen some great ones in my time. Obviously, Rooney was at Everton when I first got there. But I’ve seen players like Jose Baxter, who at that time was going to be the next great thing to follow on from Rooney. Never quite made it.

“And yet I think Estevao has something special. Lamine Yamal has proven to be consistent, and I think that Estevao’s got that same feeling for me.

“He’s got the mentality. And that’s the key thing. It’s whether their body has settled down at that age, whether there’s a growth spurt still to come. Whether their focus, their training, their discipline is there at that age. And it does seem to me that he’s got that in spades and a bit of flair as well.

“So I think he could be one who could last and come through. It’s so difficult at that age to break through. I say, I’ve seen players break down and not fulfil their potential for all sorts of reasons.

But let’s see, I think he’s got a great chance, though. I do think he’s been impressive, and I think he may carry on producing the goods for them.”

Chelsea looking to boost revenue

Meanwhile, Chelsea are exploring innovative ways to boost their revenues and take advantage of their prime location at Stamford Bridge, sources have told Football Insider.

BlueCo, which is spearheaded by chairman Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, took over Chelsea from Roman Abramovich in May 2022, with the deal worth £4.25billion.

BBC Sport reported on 6 November that the Blues are offering premium members a chance to host a dinner party in the home dressing room at Stamford Bridge, with the experience costing £16,000 for up to 30 guests.

Sources say Chelsea’s location in west London – one of the most affluent areas in the country – provides them with a unique opportunity to offer new hospitality packages to boost their revenues.
