Injury expert reveals when Lukaku will make Chelsea comeback after confirmation
Romelu Lukaku could return to action for Chelsea as a substitute when they face Leicester City on 20 November.
So says injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Lukaku has been out since 2 November after sustaining an ankle injury in the Champions League clash with Malmo.
As quoted by football.london on 9 November, manager Thomas Tuchel was coy: “We will be more clear after the international break.”
But Lukaku himself posted a series of emojis on Twitter later that day that seemed to indicate that a return is just around the corner.
Dinnery predicts that the Belgian centre-forward could return off the bench against the Foxes and then start in the Blues’ next two big games.
He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “He started some straight-line running towards the back end of last week, so that’s a good sign.
“There had been discussions about whether he would be included in the Belgium squad, but that didn’t happen.
“That gives him the opportunity to get a couple of good weeks of training in at Cobham.
“They have three big games after the break – Leicester, Juventus and Man United.

“I think it would be a reasonable assumption to stay he’ll get minutes from the bench against Leicester.
“Then maybe a start in the Champions League and another against his old side, Man United.”
