Medical expert fears Mason Mount may have ‘avulsion fracture’ and ‘torn bone’ after ‘nasty’ Chelsea update
It is possible that Mason Mount may have suffered an “avulsion fracture” that could rule him out for an extended period at Chelsea.
That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Mount was forced off half an hour into Chelsea eventual 2-1 extra-time win over Palmeiras in the Club World Cup final last Saturday (12 February).

The 23-year-old playmaker was attacking a cross when he collided with an opponent who fell on his ankle.
As quoted by the Evening Standard yesterday (13 February), Blues boss Thomas Tuchel revealed: “He hurt his ligaments badly.”
Dinnery claims that the England international is facing a bare minimum of “two or three weeks” on the sidelines.
“It depends on what imaging will reveal,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“It could be an avulsion fracture, where a piece of bone is torn from the ankle.
“You don’t want to see that and can extend the return-to-play timeline significantly.
“In terms of his pain and his range of movement, it is a nasty, painful one. But ankles tend to heal fairly quickly.
“Best-case scenario, we’re looking at two or three weeks. But that timeline could be extended significantly if there is any kind of fracture revealed.”
Mount has registered seven goals and eight assists in 34 appearances this season.
Chelsea resume their domestic campaign against Crystal Palace on Saturday (19 February).
