‘Chelsea to agree Jorrel Hato deal’ – fans react to journalist’s update
Chelsea fans have ramped up calls for the club to sign Ajax wonderkid Jorrel Hato following a fresh update on the Blues’ pursuit of the highly rated full-back.
Hato has progressed rapidly through the Ajax ranks in recent years and has become one of Europe’s most sought-after young defenders at just 19 years old.
His rise to becoming a regular starter in the first team has naturally drawn attention from across the continent and it could come at a cost for the Dutch giants, with several major clubs closely monitoring his situation.
Football Insider reported that Liverpool are among those interested in Hato, viewing him as a long-term potential successor to his Dutch compatriot Virgil van Dijk.
Chelsea and Arsenal have also registered interest in Hato, but it now appears that Chelsea are the ones making the most progress towards a potential deal, prompting fans online to urge the club to get it done.

Chelsea open new talks with Ajax over Jorrel Hato as valuation emerges
Ben Jacobs revealed on talkSPORT that Chelsea have held “fresh talks” with Ajax over a potential deal for Hato as the club “explore defensive reinforcements”.
He also noted that the Dutchman is of particular interest to the Blues due to his versatility, being comfortable at both left-back and centre-back.
A spot at left-back could soon open at Stamford Bridge, with Football Insider reporting that Ben Chilwell is likely to leave Chelsea this summer.
Renato Veiga is also expected to depart Chelsea, despite impressing during a short loan spell at Juventus, clearing further space for Hato’s possible arrival.
In the second half of last season, Marc Cucurella operated as Chelsea’s only natural left-back, with the likes of Malo Gusto and Reece James occasionally filling in — but a long-term solution in that position now appears to be a key target.

Chelsea fans push for Jorrel Hato signing as interest from rivals grows
Should Chelsea press ahead with a formal move for the 19-year-old, they will likely face competition.
The Reds have had a long-standing interest, with Football Insider previously reporting in March 2024 that Liverpool had been tracking Hato’s development closely.
With Ibrahima Konate’s future unclear and Jarell Quansah departing to join Bayer Leverkusen, Hato is likely to be on Liverpool’s shortlist of potential replacements.
Despite that, Chelsea are currently the most recent club to make contact with Ajax, and fans are eager to see the deal finalised.
One supporter posted: “Perfect backup for Cucurella… Get it done ASAP” while another added: “We need him. Sign him!”
