Expert: Chelsea to announce two new hires soon amid ‘revolutionary’ claim

Chelsea will likely hire a new head scout soon after they appoint their new sporting director.

That is the view of training ground expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

As relayed by Training Ground Guru earlier this month (4 September), Chelsea have parted company with head of international scouring Scott McLachlan.

McLachlan, who had been with the club for over a decade, is the latest senior behind-the-scenes figure to leave Chelsea following the takeover by Todd Boehly’s consortium in May.

The headline departure has been Thomas Tuchel who was sacked and replaced by Graham Potter last week.

But chairman Bruce Buck, director Marina Granovskia and sporting director Petr Cech have also been ousted.

Per The Telegraph last Thursday (8 September), Potter will be personally involved in the hunt for Cech’s replacement.

Dinnery forecasts that the Blues will not move to appoint a new head of scouting before they hire a sporting director.

“The departure of Thomas Tuchel impacts the situation,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“The role of the sporting director is to implement a club’s philosophy from top to bottom and bottom to top.

“A new manager might have new ideas to revolutionise the club. Until you fully understand that, it makes sense to align the recruitment around the sporting director. That can then filter down.

“So, I think we will see that appointment completed before we see movement in the scouting department.”

In other news, pundit suggests Chelsea boss Potter has dropped hint over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future.
