Chelsea told to ‘get rid’ of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang amid ‘awful’ claim – pundit

Frank McAvennie has urged Chelsea to “get rid” of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said the amount of money Aubameyang is getting at Stamford Bridge is “ridiculous”.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (11 January), Aubameyang is unable to play for any club other than Barcelona and Chelsea due to FIFA rules.

Barca are believed to be very keen to bring the 33-year-old back to the Camp Nou but only if it would be on a free transfer.

The La Liga giants would also require different salary terms and the exit of Memphis Depay to enable the striker to return.

The Gabon international joined the Blues on a two-year deal this summer just a week before Thomas Tuchel was sacked and replaced by Graham Potter.

Aubameyang had previously worked with Tuchel during his time in charge of Borussia Dortmund and their relationship was believed to be a big factor in his decision to join Chelsea.

The striker has made nine Premier League appearances for Potter’s side and has scored one goal during those outings.

McAvennie hasn’t been impressed with what he’s seen from Aubameyang.

They have got to get rid of him,” he told Football Insider.

Chelsea

I thought he was awful. I thought his body language, his movement was poor, I could have moved more than that.

He is getting so much money. He came back for Tuchel and it has not worked. Aubameyang is getting an absolute fortune, it is ridiculous.
