Chelsea ‘trying’ to agree £12m deal – ‘I’m sure it’s going to happen’

Chelsea will be holding out for £15million as they continue to search for a long-term shirt sleeve sponsor deal.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes it is “beyond a joke” how Chelsea have been unable to agree sponsor deals this year.

Chelsea have agreed a £10m shirt sleeve deal with FPT Corporation, but the partnership will only last until the end of the 2025-26 season.

The London club are also still looking for a new shirt sponsor, with the Blues wanting £60m to strike a deal.

Keith Wyness reveals Chelsea sponsor latest

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – thinks Chelsea may have to settle for between £10m and £12m for a new shirt sleeve sponsor.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes the club could be sticking to their £15m valuation.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “If it’s going to happen I’m sure they’re going to be trying to get £15 million, and I reckon they’ll be getting £10m to £12m. That’ll be the sort of rate that I expect them to get.

“Now, either they’re sticking and hoping for £15m or they’re going to have to let it go because it’s just getting, as you say, it’s beyond a joke the number of times we discuss things that haven’t happened. So let’s just wait and see.”

Chelsea set to make move for Crystal Palace star

Chelsea have increased their pursuit of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, with the 25-year-old likely to leave Selhurst Park in the January transfer window.

Guehi came close to signing for Liverpool in the summer window, and the Crystal Palace captain is expected to be of interest again in January to many clubs.

Crystal Palace are exploring a replacement for Guehi, with the Eagles set on losing him either in January or when his contract expires at the end of the season.
