Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah reacts to Nicolas Jackson amid transfer uncertainty

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has shared an update on how he is spending his post-season break as the Senegalese international could leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

Jackson is the subject of interest from Manchester United and Aston Villa, with Chelsea willing to let the 24-year-old leave at the right price.

Chelsea have just made over £80million from winning the Club World Cup, after they beat Champions League winners PSG 3-0 in the final.

Manager Enzo Maresca has already signed strikers Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, alongside winger Jamie Gittens in this window, leaving Jackson’s place in the team in doubt.

Chalobah shows Jackson way back into Chelsea side

Taking to Instagram, Jackson shared a video with followers around a post-season trip to his home country of Senegal.

Jackson’s post was liked by team mates Trevoh Chalobah, Moises Caicedo and Tosin Adarabioyo.

Chalobah was sent on loan at Crystal Palace at the beginning of last season, but was recalled by Chelsea in January and went on to star in the Club World Cup for Maresca’s side.

‘Unhappy’ Jackson has suitors in Man United and Aston Villa

Football Insider Verdict

Chalobah has showed Jackson that the striker can force his way back into Maresca’s future plans.

The 26-year-old’s impressive performances at Palace meant Maresca did not feel he had to sign a new defender in January amid injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile.

Jackson though is said to be “unhappy” at Chelsea’s transfer dealings this summer, with the striker now facing increased competition for a place in the starting line-up.

The striker was a regular for Maresca last season, but his lack of ruthlessness in-front of goal has forced the Italian to bolster his attacking options.

Aston Villa may step up their interest in Jackson, as uncertainty surrounds the future of their striker Ollie Watkins.

Having sold Jhon Duran in January, Villa do not have another senior striker to call upon meaning Jackson would become a key player for Unai Emery should he make the move to the Midlands.

Man United and Ruben Amorim are also in need of a new striker, so Jackson will have an important decision to make.

Amorim may also yet sell strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee following their poor goal returns, whilst Marcus Rashford has already left Man United on loan to join Barcelona.
