Chido Obi has dig at Arsenal on social media after Man United win

Man United striker Chido Obi looks to have made his feelings clear about his former club Arsenal in a social media post.

The two sides went head-to-head at Under 18s level in the quarter finals of the FA Youth Cup on Friday night (28 February).

Obi left Arsenal for Man United late last year, and has since continued his prolific goalscoring form at youth level for the Red Devils.

His move to Old Trafford apparently came despite attempts from Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to keep him in North London.

But having departed for Man United regardless it certainly appears as though Obi enjoyed the result when the two sides faced off in the cup.

Chido Obi sends Arsenal dig after FA Youth Cup result

A combination of his excellent form and injury issues have seen Obi promoted to the first-team squad in recent weeks.

As a result, the striker was not involved for the Under 18s at the Emirates Stadium, where Man United secured a 3-2 win over Arsenal to confirm their place in the semi-finals of the competition.

The game had ended 2-2 after normal time, after Jaydan Kamason had scored a late equaliser for the Red Devils.

Substitute Bendito Mantato then struck nine minutes into extra time to earn that win for the visitors, rubber stamping their progress to the last four.

After the game, Kamason took to Instagram to celebrate that win for Man United with a defiant message, which prompted a response from Obi.

Commenting on that post about that victory, the ex-Arsenal striker simply yet emphatically wrote “THANK YOU SO MUCH”.

He then accompanied that with a series of laughing emojis, suggesting he did indeed enjoy that result against his old club.

Man United will hope for similar result at senior level this weekend

Football Insider Verdict

While Obi may have missed out on the chance to face his old club in the FA Cup at youth level this weekend, he could still play a significant part in the competition at senior level.

Man United will host Fulham in the fifth round at Old Trafford on Sunday (2 March) with the young striker looking as though he will be involved in that game.

Obi has already looked bright in his brief cameos for Ruben Amorim‘s side, and will hope to get another chance to do so here.

With the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham all already out of the tournament, there does seem to be an opening for the Red Devils to defend their title in this competition.

Given it has been a challenging season for Man United, a trophy would help to ease that frustration, and so they will surely not want to waste that opportunity against Fulham.
