Chinese flop is not even worst of bunch in five worst Celtic signings of the last 20 years
5. SCOTT MARSHALL
Signed from: Southampton – Fee (approx): Loan Deal – Appearances: 1
Journeyman centre-back, and brother of former Celtic goalkeeper Gordon, who was signed in the middle of a defensive injury crisis.
Manager Josef Venglos made the bizarre decision to give him his only start in the chaotic Old Firm game which saw Rangers clinch the title at Celtic Park and amidst all manner of chaotic scenes, Marshall had a shocker.
Unsurprisingly he never played for the Hoops again and ended up moving to Brentford the following season. A bizarre footnote to a bad day in the Hoops’ history.
