Chinese flop is not even worst of bunch in five worst Celtic signings of the last 20 years
4. DU WEI
Signed from: Shanghai Shenua – Fee (approx): Loan Deal – Appearances: 1
Another one game wonder, Du Wei made his only appearance in the legendary 2-1 Scottish Cup loss to Clyde in 2006, which also saw Roy Keane make his debut for the Hoops.
The Chinese defender couldn’t cope with the rugged style of play from the minnows as he had an absolute nightmare, conceding a penalty and being substituted at half-time as the Hoops slumped to an embarrassing cup exit.
Unsurprisingly, the player was seen as the scapegoat for such an awful result and after only 45 minutes of football he returned to China, never to play for the Hoops again.
