Chris Sutton claims Enzo Maresca has just created ‘nightmare’ situation at Chelsea
Enzo Maresca may be regretting his summer transfer business which could come back to hinder Chelsea’s season.
Chelsea edged past Lincoln 2-1 in the Carabao Cup to put an end to their three-match winless streak in all competitions.
The Blues though go into their next Premier League match against Brighton already eight points behind leaders Liverpool.
Chelsea‘s start to the season may be down to Maresca’s failing to not upgrading one position during the summer.

Enzo Maresca has not addressed goalkeeping ‘issue’
Robert Sanchez’s sending off at Man United gave Filip Jorgensen a chance in between the sticks against Lincoln.
Jorgensen though failed to impress and Chris Sutton, as per BBC Sport [24 September] believes Maresca has created a situation he could have prevented.
“It’s a nightmare for Enzo Maresca. The goalkeeping situation was an issue last season,” Sutton said,
“Chelsea fans were not convinced by Sanchez. Maresca has stuck with him but there is a chance for the number two when he has made mistakes.
“Sanchez will stay the number one.”
Sanchez made the most mistakes leading to goals in the Premier League last season, and Chelsea have been told they need a goalkeeper to win trophies.

Maresca also faces Cole Palmer problem
More concerningly for Maresca, star Cole Palmer is unsatisfied with life at Chelsea under the Italian’s leadership.
Palmer was substituted in the first half at Man United after overcoming an injury to start, and the 23-year-old did not look happy as he walked down the tunnel.
The positivity coming into the season after their Club World Cup success now looks to have evaporated, and Maresca may be under growing pressure if his side do not beat Brighton.
Palmer is an influential player on and off the pitch, and one Chelsea cannot do without.
