Chris Sutton absolutely destroys Warburton on Twitter after Rangers exit

By Harvey Byrne

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has slammed Mark Warburton’s reign in charge of Rangers after it was revealed on Friday evening that he had resigned as manager.

The 54-year-old has been feeling the pressure in recent weeks following a heavy 4-1 defeat against Hearts alongside a 1-1 draw with Ross County.

The results saw his side fall down to third place in the Premiership table and Rangers fans have been vocal in calling for his departure.

Warburton had appeared to have responded to the supporters by offering his resignation to the club, which Rangers shared on their official Twitter account had been accepted.

This then invited a damning verdict from Sutton on his own personal Twitter account, who released a video sharing that he felt the job was too great for a manager of his ability among many criticisms.

“Mark Warburton has left Ibrox” started Warburton on the social media site.

“The job was too big for him, no surprises he’s gone. It’s been a disastrous season for Mark Warburton. There hasn’t been a magic hat in recent weeks, it has been a dunce’s hat.

“Some of the stuff coming out of his mouth. ‘If Celtic lose four games and Rangers win one there’ll only be a 10 point gap’ to the random stuff. They’ve lost games ‘randomly’. I mean absolute nonsense.

“Mark Warburton has certainly lost the plot. Not been helped by Dave King’s lack of investment which was promised. Not been helped by his assistant manager David Weir, who’s known the Glasgow environment.

“It’s been a sorry season. All the 55 banners at the start of the season misguided to the thumpings in the Glasgow derbies and then coming out after saying there’s no gap. The gap was enormous, the job was too big for Mark Warburton.”

There is also speculation as to whether Warburton has actually handed in his resignation and the BBC have reported that the boss is unaware of any statement as well as sharing that he will be consulting his legal team.

This then brought a further message on Twitter from Sutton, who wrote that if he hasn’t walked then he should run.

The Celtic contingent have soaked up all the drama regarding Rangers and manager Warburton.

However, those associated with the Ibrox giants will be eager to put the situation past them as soon as possible.
