Chris Sutton drops Liverpool dressing room claim after Mohamed Salah bombshell
Chris Sutton has criticised Mohamed Salah following the winger’s explosive comments on Saturday night.
Salah admitted that he has “no relationship” with Arne Slot, following the Dutchman’s decision to leave him out of the starting line-up for the third consecutive game.
Liverpool drew 3-3 with Leeds United at Elland Road, in what was yet another embarrassing performance from Slot‘s side.
Hugo Ekitike‘s brace put the Reds well into the ascendancy after the break, but goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Anton Stach would level the scores before Ao Tanaka‘s late finish cancelled out Dominik Szoboszlai‘s strike.
Liverpool fans again called for Slot to be sacked after the Leeds game, with the Dutchman at serious risk of losing his job.

Chris Sutton backs Arne Slot in Mohamed Salah interview verdict
Slot did not even bring Salah off the bench, despite his side evidently needing more potency in the final third.
The winger was such a key part of the Dutchman’s Premier League-winning side last season, but appears to have completely fallen out of favour with his manager.
“I have done so much for this club down the years and especially last season,” he said after the game. “Now I’m sitting on the bench and I don’t know why. It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus.
“That is how I am feeling. I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame. I got a lot of promises in the summer and so far I am on the bench for three games so I can’t say they keep the promise.
“I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden, we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why, but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn’t want me in the club.”
Liverpool fans have largely backed the Egyptian, with the starters favoured by Slot not doing much to justify the decision.
But Sutton has completely disagreed, and wrote on Saturday: “Embarrassing from Mo Salah and disrespectful to his teammates and his manager.
“Salah is no different from any other player … if a player’s form drops as Salah’s has he is the same as anyone else and has to accept being benched… but he thinks he’s too good to be benched sadly…”
Slot position is beginning to feel untenable
If Liverpool’s shocking form was not enough, picking a fight with the biggest fan favourite in the squad is a sure-fire route to unemployment for Slot.
Such were Salah’s comments on Saturday; the relationship between the two appears to have reached a point where it cannot continue.
| Mohamed Salah | Premier League 2024-25 |
| Appearances | 38 |
| Goals | 29 |
| Assists | 18 |
| Chances created | 89 |
| Successful dribbles | 58 |
One of them will surely have to leave in the coming months, and it is much harder to see decision-makers at Anfield taking one route compared to the other.
Salah is a Liverpool legend, who, in many ways, carried the Reds on his back to the Premier League last season.
Slot was, of course, a key part of that, too, but the Dutchman has very few supporters remaining in his corner and may well be shown the door in the coming days.
