Chris Sutton has already told Celtic why they should sign their latest ‘outstanding’ transfer target

Celtic have joined the list of clubs showing interest in Hibernian striker Kieron Bowie ahead of the January transfer window.

Wolves are also reportedly interested in Bowie, as they prepare for the departure of wantaway striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.

The 23-year-old has scored eight goals in the Scottish Premiership this season, and joined Hibernian from the Fulham academy in 2024.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on Friday that Rangers are also interested in Bowie, with several clubs expected to throw their hats in the ring for him in the coming weeks.

Celtic looked set to re-sign Kyogo Furuhashi from Birmingham City, but the Japan International’s goal against Cambridge United on Saturday appears to have changed things slightly.

Celtic want Kieron Bowie as likely fee revealed

Striking issues came to the fore for Celtic in the dismal month that saw Wilfried Nancy arrive and then swiftly depart.

The Bhoys lost five of the seven games played under the Frenchman, but the stats often told a different story.

In games against Dundee United, St Mirren, and the game that ultimately saw Nancy sacked, against Rangers, Celtic missed countless chances.

It was a completely different story as Martin O’Neill returned on Saturday, however, with the Bhoys scoring four goals from just eight shots on target.

But the issues remain, and, according to The Herald, Celtic have registered an interest in signing Bowie.

Hibernian are expected to look at around £6.5million for the 23-year-old, amid the growing queue of clubs interested in his services.

Chris Sutton has already given Bowie verdict

Bowie is a traditional type of striker – more than capable of running in behind or holding up the ball, depending on the situation.

His performance against Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts in December caught eyes, when the Scotland international found the net with a great finish into the bottom corner.

It was after his goal against Dundee United in September that convinced Chris Sutton of his qualities, however.

Bowie capitalised on a poor moment for the defender, and danced around the final man before finishing with power and precision past goalkeeper Yevhenii Kucherenko.

“Celtic would have seen plenty of him now and I wonder whether eventually they’ll make the move for him,” Sutton told Sky Sports when asked about the forward.

“I remember him last season when he had a performance against Celtic and really roughed Cameron Carter-Vickers up, which is not an easy thing to do, but he did do.

“I love his aggression, eye for a goal and he looks to be an outstanding young player. David Gray must be absolutely delighted he’s got him at his disposal.”
