Chris Sutton: This is how many Rangers players would get in the Celtic team
By Danny Wright
Chris Sutton doesn’t think that any Rangers player is good enough to be able to get into the Celtic team.
Brendan Rodgers and his men are unbeaten in domestic football this season but the Northern Irishman has reportedly been interested in making one player make cross the Glasgow divide.
The Daily Record reported that the Bhoys had made an approach for loan-star Emerson Hyndman, who has arguably been one of the Light Blues’ best players since January.
Sutton, an ex-Hoops striker, also thinks that the Gers fans got carried away after last season’s Scottish Cup semi-final victory and that has led to a lot of false expectations this season.
Pedro Caixinha’s side are a staggering 33 points behind Celtic going into this weekend’s Old Firm clash at Hampden Park.

“We saw in the last Scottish Cup semi-final when Rangers beat Celtic. Nobody really expected that and it caused Rangers a lot of issues in terms of thinking they could challenge Celtic for the title,” said Sutton, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“If you look at the two teams, how many Rangers players would get into the Celtic team?
“On this season’s performance I couldn’t think of one.
“It is not to say that on their day, as they proved at Celtic Park, they aren’t capable.
“Celtic are not going to underestimate them. They will say they didn’t but they did last time and I think it will be back to putting in disciplined performances as they did at the start of the season and in the Champions League.”
Rangers earned a late point at Parkhead in March to halt Celtic’s impressive winning streak after Clint Hill scrambled home a late goal to cancel out Stuart Armstrong’s first-half belter.
Caixinha was in the stands to watch Graeme Murty take charge of that game so Sunday’s semi-final fixture will be the Portuguese boss’ first taste of managing the Old Firm derby.
Results for Rangers have improved since Caixinha was announced as Mark Warburton’s successor last month.
The Light Blues have won back-to-back league games for the first time since Christmas Eve following Saturday’s 2-0 win against Partick.
That came after a stunning 3-0 win against Aberdeen the week before.
With five league games to go, Rangers are nine points behind the second-placed Dons.
