Chris Sutton names Celtic 26-year-old as best player in Scotland this season

BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton has taken to social media to label Celtic winger James Forrest as the best player in the Scottish Premiership this season.

The former Celtic striker has bestowed the Scotland international with the honour on his personal Twitter account on Boxing Day after the Hoops’s win against Dundee.

“Forrest best player in the country this season” he said, after watching the winger score in the 2-0 victory over the Dee.

Forrest, 26, is in the middle of his best season so far for the Scottish champions, the 12 goals he has scored so far are already his best ever total for a season.

He seemed to be on his way out of Celtic Park before the arrival of Brendan Rodgers, but since then he has been a player transformed.

The  26-year-old signed a new contract and became an integral part of the Hoops side which set the British unbeaten record of 69 domestic matches, scoring in two domestic cup finals in that time.

Forrest will be a certainty to start in the Bhoys’ next league game, the Old Firm derby against Rangers at Celtic Park on Saturday.

The winger has yet to score a goal in the biggest league match in Scotland, but such has been his form this season that few would bet against him breaking his duck in the next game.
