Chris Sutton rips into Nottingham Forest fans over ‘ridiculous’ Ange Postecoglou treatment

Ange Postecoglou’s start to life at Nottingham Forest is not being helped by the fans, claims Chris Sutton.

Postecoglou replaced Nuno Espirito Santo as manager at Nottingham Forest last month, but the former Spurs boss has yet to win a game in charge of the club.

Nottingham Forest now lie just a point above the relegation zone following their latest defeat at Newcastle in the Premier League.

Postecoglou is safe from the sack during the international break, with the Tricky Trees out of action until they welcome Chelsea to the City Ground on October 18th.

Ange Postecoglou treatment ‘deeply unfair’

Following a sensational season under Nuno, with the club now back competing in Europe, the sacking of the now West Ham boss split the fanbase.

Chris Sutton, speaking on the Monday Night Club [6 October], believes the Nottingham Forest support have not given Postecoglou a chance and therefore the Australian will not be at the club very long.

I can’t ever remember a fanbase getting stuck into a manager and signing for a manager to get sacked after six games,” Sutton said.

For the life of me I don’t understand. I find it ridiculous I think there’s an entitlement element to the Nottingham Forest support that the recent success, and there clear love for Nuno, and I get that and I do understand that.

I don’t see this lasting long, I don’t see this ending well for Ange Postecoglou, I don’t think the Nottingham Forest fans in the main will change their minds about him, but I think its deeply deeply unfair.

Fellow former Premier League striker Matt Le Tissier believes Postecoglou should be given time at Nottingham Forest to change fortunes around.

Conor Coady has sympathy for Postecoglou

Also speaking on the Monday Night Club, former Wolves centre-back Conor Coady thinks it will naturally take time for Postecoglou’s methods to yield results.

It bewilders me the way they’re asking, they’re signing his name, do you know how hard it is to change,” Coady said.

You know Nuno was a transition manager, Nuno was a counter attack manager, wherever he’s been successful that’s how he’s played.

He’s played with players on the wing, Elanga, Hudson-Odoi, Wood down the middle and you see at West Ham now what he’s trying to do Fulkrug, Summerville, Jarrod Bowen, exactly the same.

But to go from his style of play to Postecoglou’s style of play in the space of seven games that is unbelievably hard.”

Postecoglou will hope the international break will give him time to work with players not on international duty on his style of football which could see an improved performance against Chelsea.
