Chris Sutton slams Rangers board after latest development from senior man

BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton has taken to social media to slam the Rangers board for the way they handled their search for a new permanent manager.

The former Celtic striker has used his personal Twitter account to claim that the Gers board didn’t back director of football Mark Allen, after he claimed to have a list of managerial candidates two days after the sacking of Pedro Caixinha in October.

Now Sutton believes that senior man Allen has piled the pressure on the club’s chiefs.

“Mark Allen had a list of managerial candidates within 2 days of Pedro sacking he says!”, he said.

“So the Rangers board didn’t trust him or weren’t decisive enough?? Allen has piled the pressure on the board… I did my job… you didn’t do yours…”

Rangers were without a permanent manager for over two months whilst they searched for Pedro Caixinha’s replacement.

The man they identified for the position was Derek McInnes, but after much deliberation he decided to stay with Aberdeen.

Graeme Murty, who had been interim manager at Ibrox since the departure of Caixinha, has now been appointed permanent manager until the end of the season.

Murty’s first game in charge didn’t go to well, as the Gers slumped to a 2-1 defeat to Kilmarnock, as result which leaves then 11 points behind leaders Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table.

Rangers face a daunting looking trip to Celtic Park on Saturday in the final league game before the winter break, although Graeme Murty can take heart from the fact that he managed the Gers to a 1-1 draw with Celtic in March.
