Christiansen shares Leeds transfer update after win over Oxford

By Harry Sykes

Thomas Christiansen has revealed that Leeds United are working on making more signings during the transfer window.

The Yorkshire giants have made 10 new signings this summer during a major recruitment drive after Andrea Radrizzani took full ownership of the club.

But Christiansen explained in the wake of United’s 2-0 pre-season friendly win over Oxford on Saturday afternoon that the club are still active in the market.

Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent Lee Sobot quoted the Elland Road manager as saying “we are looking” in answer to whether there will be more new arrivals.

The former Spain forward gave nothing away in terms of targets but provided supporters with hope that the club will make reinforcements in defence.

Most of Leeds’ signings this summer have come in attack or midfield, with the only two purely defensive arrivals goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald and centre-back Matthew Pennington, who is on a season-long loan from Everton.

But supporters have also called on the club to sign another senior centre-back and a left-back to replace Charlie Taylor, who joined Burnley earlier this month.

Goals from Kemar Roofe and Stuart Dallas secured the win for Leeds over Pep Clotet’s Oxford as the team made final preparations for their Championship opener against Bolton on Sunday week.

In other Leeds transfer news, a left-back has headed to Elland Road as he aims to secure a permanent transfer from top-flight club.
