Christopher Jullien and Celtic teammate backed to exit as medical reported – expert

Frank McAvennie has urged Christopher Jullien and Albian Ajeti to leave Celtic to get game time.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said neither Jullien nor Ajeti will play for the Ange Postecoglou’s side this season.

According to French outlet L’Equipe (22 August), Jullien, 29, is set to undergo a medical at Montpellier ahead of a potential loan move.

The French defender is yet to feature in a matchday squad for the Bhoys this season.

He has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Parkhead.

Ajeti has also been omitted from the matchday squad for every game this term.

The Switzerland international’s contract runs until the end of May 2024.

When asked if Jullien should be looking for a move away, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I don’t know who would take him.

“He’s not playing, he’s injury prone.

There’s a lot of players there in the same position. The likes of Ajeti, he’s not going to get a look in. I get it, they’ve got a good wage, and a good contract but they need to have a bit of professionalism. Even if he [Jullien] goes on loan, Celtic’s still paying most of his wages and he can at least go and play.

I couldn’t do that, not play football. Go on loan somewhere and play football every week. I’ve not got a lot of time for players that don’t want to play. Not even seeing him fight to get in this team. He’s just taking the money, he’s not going to get a game at Celtic. If he does it’s going to be few and far between.

Go on loan and prove to the manager that you should be in his thoughts, don’t just sit there. Who wants that kind of player?
