‘Clown’, ‘The worst in history’ – Fans react to Jordan Pickford display for Everton

Fans on social media have hammered Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford for his display in the draw with Tottenham on Saturday afternoon.

The Toffees have climbed out of the relegation zone in the Premier League after rescuing a late 2-2 draw with Spurs at Goodison Park.

Richarlison scored twice in the first half on his return to Merseyside to strengthen Tottenham’s push for Champions League qualification – they now sit fourth, one point clear of Aston Villa

Jack Harrison scored Everton’s first of the match and Jarrad Branthwaite scored deep into injury time to salvage a point for the hosts, but attention on social media was firmly on Pickford’s display.

Pickford has played every available minute for Everton in the Premier League this season and has kept a league-topping eight clean sheets in 2023-24.

He has conceded 30 goals in the Premier League – the best defensive record for any side in the bottom 10.

However, fans on social media were angered by Pickford’s performance with some calling for Gareth Southgate to drop him as England’s first-choice keeper ahead of the European Championships this summer.

Everton return to Premier League action next Saturday when they face reigning champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Tottenham’s league campaign resumes next week when they host Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton in North London.
