Cole Palmer apologises to Chelsea fans after what he did vs Southampton
Chelsea got back to winning ways on Tuesday (25 February) after hammering Southampton at Stamford Bridge to bolster their hopes of earning Champions League football.
The Blues brought an end to their three-match run without a victory by putting four goals past the Saints, although popular talisman Cole Palmer was not among the goals.
Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto, Levi Colwill, and Marc Cucurella all found themselves on the scoresheet as Enzo Maresca’s side dominated Southampton.
Chelsea had only won three games in their previous 12 outings across all competitions prior to this fixture which had seen them slip down the Premier League table.
However, the early midweek results proved to be kind to the Blues as they climbed back into the top four.
Position | Team | Played | GD | Points |

Cole Palmer makes Chelsea vow as full stats emerge
The performance against Southampton was a positive one for everyone at Chelsea, other than Palmer, who failed to score despite having the most shots of any player on the pitch.
Palmer missed two big chances throughout the game and was only successful with 67 percent of his dribbles as he struggled to influence the match.
The England international continues his individual run of form as the 22-year-old has now failed to score a goal in seven games, while it has been 14 since he last provided a assist for his teammates.
That rut is something that Palmer addressed on Instagram by saying, “well done lads +3. Don’t worry I will be back.”

Cole Palmer exit speculation has intensified
Palmer’s future at Stamford Bridge has been a hot talking point lately as Chelsea’s poor run of form has led to question marks over whether or not they will make the top four.
It has led to claims that Palmer might have a clause in his contract that allows other teams to purchase him if they miss out, but Football Insider’s Connor Humm believes that speculation about Palmer is “nonsense.”
Chelsea fans also made it clear they do not expect Palmer to leave the club, especially after Maresca publicly backed him to stay regardless of where they finish.
