‘Coming home’ – Leeds fans react on Twitter to Carabao Cup first-round draw
By Derek Smithson
Leeds have been drawn against Port Vale in the first round of the Carabao Cup – and the club’s supporters are excited about the return of Michael Brown.
The Whites have been handed a home draw against League Two side Port Vale for the Carabao Cup, which was known as the EFL Cup last season.
Brown is currently the caretaker boss at Vale Park despite the club being relegated to League Two last season, but has been with them as a player since 2014.
The 40-year-old enjoyed a three-year spell at Elland Road earlier in his career between 2011-2014 and was fondly liked by fans.
The central midfielder made 78 appearances across all competitions for the Yorkshire club and became a fan favourite.
Leeds fans expressed their delight that their former player will be returning home next season and he will be lining up against Thomas Christiansen in the manager’s dugout.

The draw took place in Thailand due to the new sponsors Carabao Energy Drink and the first-round matches will commence Monday 7 August 2017.
Manchester United won the competition last season when they beat Southampton at Wembley, while Leeds went all the way to the quarter-finals of the competition.
The Yorkshire giants were eventually beaten 2-0 away to Liverpool, but knocked out Fleetwood Town, Luton, Blackburn Rovers and Norwich during their cup run.
