‘Completely at fault’ – Arsenal fans blame ‘horrendous’ David Raya for what happened vs Wolves

Arsenal fans have ripped into David Raya for his mistake that led to Wolves scoring late on to snatch a 2-2 draw as the two sides clashed at Molineux on Wednesday.

Raya failed to deal with Mateus Mane’s lofted cross and was caught off his line before Sam Edozie’s low shot found its way past him and into the net.

It looked as if Gabriel Magalhaes was set to deal with the danger comfortably, but the Spaniard’s rush of blood meant his weak punch landed at the feet of the young Wolves forward.

Arsenal dropped points in the title race for the second time in a week after also being held to a 1-1 draw at Brentford last Thursday.

Mikel Arteta’s side are now five points ahead of second-placed Man City, who have a game in hand, with the two teams also set to face each other in April.

David Raya lambasted by Arsenal fans after late mistake vs Wolves

Wolves’ first goal, scored by Hugo Bueno, was pretty unstoppable from Raya’s point of view, but he will know that he should have dealt with the equaliser with much more conviction.

It was reminiscent of a similar mistake made against Sunderland earlier in the campaign, and has left the Gunners in a precarious position with 11 games to play.

Many Arsenal fans were unable to hide their frustrations towards their goalkeeper, with one taking to X to say: “David Raya is going to cost us this title. I said it before…he was at fault for late dropped points at Sunderland, at fault for the loss at Liverpool, cost us with poor keeping vs Man United, and now this mistake. He’s lost his head every time it’s tight late on.”

Another added: “It’s all Raya’s fault. He never punches balls out and that’s what should’ve been done. He’s excellent at claiming the ball, but a couple of times this season he has made the wrong judgement on when to claim crosses in the air and when he shouldn’t, and we’ve been punished twice.”

While one wrote: “Raya sold this game. What a horrendous mistake. How can you not see your player in front of you?”

How likely are Arsenal to win the Premier League title after Wolves draw?

The Premier League title race has opened up once more, and even third-placed Aston Villa can not be counted out just yet.

Unai Emery’s side are three points behind Man City right now, but Opta‘s supercomputer hands them a measly 2.92 per cent chance of lifting the silverware for the first time.

City are backed to finish second, on 74.6 expected points, with a 17.26 per cent chance of winning the Premier League title right now.

Despite their late fumble at Molineux, the Gunners are still expected to win the league this season, with a 79.69 per cent chance as it stands, as they are predicted to accrue over 80 points.
