D-Day on Thursday: Rangers submit midfielder paperwork – Sky

By Harry Sykes

Rangers have submitted their appeal against Ryan Jack’s red card in their defeat to Hibernian at Ibrox last weekend.

The Scottish FA confirmed this afternoon (Tuesday), as cited by Sky Sports Scotland, that the Glasgow giants have completed the paperwork for their appeal.

The Twitter account of Sky Sports Scotland reported that Rangers’ appeal will be heard on Thursday.

Midfielder Jack was sent off in the 36th minute of a volatile clash at Ibrox in a match that ended with a police probe and SFA investigation into Hibs manager Neil Lennon’s celebration of Scott Murray’s equalising goal.

Summer signing Jack lost his rag and his place on the pitch after 36 minutes when he was shown a straight red card following an overly robust tussle with Dylan McGeouch.

Manager Pedro Caixinha confirmed in the aftermath of Saturday’s clash that Rangers’ intention was to appeal and the club have now followed up with a formal case.

Murray had fired home to cancel out Alfredo Morelos’ opener before a James Tavernier own-goal and a sublime volley from Vykintas Slivka gave the away side a 3-1 lead.

Tavernier netted a consolation goal to make it 3-2 as Rangers slumped to their first league defeat of the season following their opening-day win at Motherwell.
