Confirmed: Senior Rangers trio demoted to youth team
By Harvey Byrne
Senior Rangers trio Joe Dodoo, Harry Forrester and Danny Wilson were demoted to the Under-20s on Tuesday afternoon for a clash against Hibernian.
All three were part of manager Mark Warburton’s 18-man squad which drew 1-1 with Ross County on Saturday afternoon.
Forrester was the only one to make it out onto the pitch as a 62nd minute substitute for Barry McKay, while both Wilson and Dodoo were unused substitutes.
A Twitter account named ‘Battle Fever’ shared the SPFL Development League line-ups containing the three senior players on the social media site on Tuesday.
The match finished 2-1 to the Rangers young team with a goal from Dodoo alongside a fine Myles Beerman strike.
The afternoon will however be one to forget for young starlet Billy Gilmour after he received a straight red card from the referee after a heavy challenge.
The three seniors will now be looking to fight their way back into Warburton’s first-team with Rangers currently struggling in the Premiership table.
The draw with Ross County compounded on a bad week for the Ibrox giants after they had also suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat against Hearts last Wednesday.
