Connor Goldson ‘having sleepless nights’ as Rangers footage analysed – pundit
Connor Goldson will be having “sleepless nights” over his own goal for Rangers against PSV Eindhoven.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie hopes Goldson will carry the mistake with him into Sunday’s Old Firm (3 September).
As shown on TNT Sports (30 August), the centre-back attempted to pass the ball back to goalkeeper Jack Butland who failed to get to the ball before it rolled into the back of the net.
The Light Blues were already 4-1 down with ten minutes to play when Goldson’s mishap occurred.
Despite ending the first leg of their Champions League play-off on level terms, the Gers lost the second leg of the fixture 5-1 for a 7-3 aggregate defeat.
Michael Beale’s side have had to move on quickly from the disappointing result in Eindhoven ahead of Sunday’s (3 September) Scottish Premiership match against Celtic.
When asked what he made of Goldson turning the ball into his own net, McAvennie told Football Insider: “Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong.
“Some players will take that as it has happened now it is out for your system, you have had your bad game but I do not know what Connor’s attitude is like.

“He looks as though he might be a bit serious so he might be having sleepless nights and hopefully takes it into the game on Sunday.
“I do not like to see any player have a disaster like that but he can start playing well after Sunday.“
