Contact made: Liverpool could sell Oxlade-Chamberlain to fund move for star Carragher hailed 'devastating' - pundit

Liverpool could fund a January move for Wolves winger Adama Traore with the sale of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

That is the view of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the possibility of Traore, 25, moving to Anfield in 2022.

Catalan newspaper El Nacional reported on October 9th that contact is intensifying between Wolves and Liverpool over a deal for the Spain international.

Football Insider first revealed in the summer (7th July) that Liverpool had made contact with Wolves about a potential Traore deal.

Klopp is said to be waiting with “open arms” for the ex-Aston Villa and Middlesbrough attacker.

Traore‘s contract at Molineux runs until the summer of 2023.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Traore would be a welcome arrival, Campbell said:

“He is tailor-made for Liverpool because of the way they play.

“The lads [Sadio] Mane, [Mohamed] Salah and [Diogo] Jota have done such a great job this season. You cannot fault them.

“But, what Traore would bring is an impact off the bench.

“Substitutions are going to be huge at the back end of the season. It is going to make a huge difference in the title race. When you look at Chelsea and Man City they have those impact players on the bench. Liverpool don’t.

“They might have to move and shake in January. Perhaps they let Oxlade-Chamberlain go and then sign Traore. They need an impact player and boy is Traore good at making an impact.”

Speaking to Sky Sports in April 2020, Jamie Carragher heaped praise on Traore.

He said: “Adama Traore on the right for Wolves deserves a shout (for team of the season), he’s been devastating at times.”
