‘Cost us two league titles’ – Tottenham fans hit out at the club’s Twitter message
By Amir Mir
Tottenham have announced that they will take part in a post-season friendly against Kitchee SC in Hong Kong – and fans on Twitter have hit out at the club for the idea.
They announced the news on Monday morning that the Spurs squad will travel to the Far East on May 26 for a one-off friendly.
Five days prior to that match, Mauricio Pochettino’s team will play Hull City in what will be their final Premier League match of the season.
Here is the club’s Twitter message:
At this moment in time, the north London club are still in the title race and if leaders Chelsea slip-up in their next two matches then it could go to the last day.
Added to that, it is highly likely that Hull will be fighting for survival as they currently sit in the relegation zone.
Nonetheless, supporters weren’t too pleased with the club announcing this news as they feel their players need rest after a long season.
Fans believe this wears the players out which is one of the reasons why they start Premier League campaigns so poorly.
One supporter believes those terrible starts to a Premier League campaign have cost the club two league titles.
Not only that, the White Hart Lane faithful prefer friendly matches to be played at the home of football, Wembley because that is where Tottenham will be playing next term.
They have had picked up only one win from their five Wembley matches this term and that was against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.
