Coutinho delivers Liverpool verdict ahead of Leicester clash
By Dominic Toner
Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho is expecting a tough battle against Leicester in their Premier League clash on Monday night.
The Reds travel to the King Power Stadium in the league and will be looking to kick on following their 2-0 victory over Tottenham in their last game.
Meanwhile, opponents Leicester will be reeling from the shock sacking of Claudio Ranieri, who guided the Foxes to their first ever title last season.
Leicester’s star players such as Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez have been unable to recapture the form they showed last season, which leaves them just a point above the relegation places.
Coutinho is wary of the Midlands side despite their recent form and is predicting a tough match.
“Leicester are last season’s champions, so they have a lot of quality. There are very good players there, so it’s sure to be a difficult game,” Coutinho said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
Liverpool will start the game as strong favourites to gain the three points and boost their top four hopes.
The Merseyside club’s sole focus is now on the Premier League after exits from the cup competitions, meaning Jurgen Klopp is likely to field his strongest XI.
They recorded a convincing 4-1 victory over Leicester in the previous meeting at Anfield this season and will be looking to repeat the same scoreline away from home.
However, Leicester have been strong at home this season and reminded people of their qualities with a 4-2 win over Manchester City in December.
