Crawley Town next manager: Karl Robinson is a top contender – sources
Salford City boss Karl Robinson is in the frame for the vacant manager’s job at Crawley Town, sources have told Football Insider.
Robinson, 44, is seen as a top contender for the role and has been shortlisted by the decision-makers at the Broadfield Stadium.
This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed that MK Dons have agreed a compensation package with Crawley to appoint Scott Lindsey as their new boss.
The Dons have been searching for a new manager since former boss Mike Williamson left to join fellow League Two outfit Carlisle United in a shock move.
Lindsey’s impending arrival has also come as a shock as he will take a step back down the leagues after his release clause was met.
He leaves the Reds 18th in the league with two wins, one draw and three losses from their opening six games after lifting them to promotion from League One last time out.
Robinson, meanwhile, has his Salford side 15th in League Two after guiding them to safety last season following his appointment in January.
Crawley Town line up Karl Robinson after shock Scott Lindsey exit
Lindsey’s impending departure came as a surprise to many at the Broadfield Stadium, having achieved a shock promotion with the club last season.
MK Dons, meanwhile, failed to achieve promotion after Crawley defeated them 8-1 on aggregate in the playoff semi-finals.
However, after the League Two club met his release clause, Town were left powerless to prevent his exit and have been forced to consider new options.
Robinson has emerged towards the top of their managerial shortlist after his exploits with Salford in the second half of the 2023-24 season.
The boss also has plenty of experience in League One after his time at Oxford United, during which he guided his side to the playoffs in consecutive seasons before his dismissal in 2023.
He has managed 525 games in the third tier, winning 222, drawing 130 and losing 173 and would bring a wealth of experience to his new role.

Since taking over at Salford, Robinson has won nine of his 28 games, drawing nine and losing ten as he helped guide a relegation-threatened side to relatively comfortable safety.
In other news, a new Everton takeover update has emerged.
