Cristian Romero reacts to Angel Di Maria announcement amid Tottenham exit talk
Tottenham’s Cristian Romero has reacted to Angel Di Maria’s latest announcement, while the defender’s future remains uncertain.
Romero made 26 appearances for Tottenham across all competitions this season and performed well in their Europa League final triumph over Manchester United.
But while the North Londoners enjoyed success in Europe, they finished just 17th in the Premier League and will have to fare better domestically next term.
Amid Spurs’ woeful top-flight finish, Daniel Levy could still sack Ange Postecoglou despite his historic Europa League exploits.

Romero reacts as Di Maria announces transfer
Romero’s former international teammate Di Maria is joining Argentinian top-flight side Rosario Central after spending the last two seasons in Portugal with Benfica.
The ex-Manchester United midfielder announced the move via Instagram [30 May] as he posted a photo alongside his family, captioned: “It’s so nice to come home.
“What a great joy to be able to fulfill our dream. Live in our beloved Rosary and be able to wear the T-shirt of our beloved Rosario Central.
“Today is one of the happiest days of our lives. That beautiful dream we had came true, and now more than ever, we just want to live with joy and lots of happiness. I love them so much.”
Romero liked the post, while Football Insider have exclusively revealed the defender is set to leave Tottenham.
Tottenham set to step up their efforts to sign Marc Guehi
Even though Tottenham won the Europa League this season, their Premier League woes are indicative that the North London club have plenty of work to do in the summer transfer window.

Romero’s looming exit will mean that Spurs will have to utilise the transfer window to sign a new defender ahead of competing in next season’s Champions League.
Former Tottenham scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Spurs will step up their interest in Marc Guehi, who has also been eyed by Newcastle United and Liverpool.
Guehi played a key role in Crystal Palace’s FA Cup triumph this season and could prove to be a more than adequate replacement for Romero.
The England international was also one of the Three Lions’ outstanding performers during Euro 2024, further showing that he could be a great addition for Spurs.
Meanwhile, Tottenham News have exclusively revealed that Postecoglou wants to sign Jack Grealish if he avoids the sack.
