Cristiano Romero: Pundit ‘wowed’ by Tottenham defender after ‘incredible’ footage emerges

Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Tottenham defender Cristian Romero after Saturday’s shock win over league-leaders Man City.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one said the 23-year-old was “incredible” at the Etihad.

Romero starred for Tottenham on Saturday as they got their top four bid back on track with a 3-2 win over Pep Guardiola’s side.

As relayed by club media (20 February), the centre-half made up for conceding a penalty by producing a superb clearance in stoppage time.

Robinson was “wowed” by the last-ditch effort to prevent a goal at the Etihad.

“I have always said that he is the best centre defender Spurs have got,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“I’ve gone on record numerous times to say that he’s their best. He’s the only one that shows any kind of world class quality.

“I thought he was incredible on Saturday. The clearance late on was just wow, so so good. He was one one the players who lead by example out there.

“I thought it was a great all-round performance from Spurs. To a man they were very good and tactically, Conte got it spot on.”

Romero has made 17 appearances across all competitions for Antonio Conte’s side this season.

The Argentina international is currently on loan in north London but Spurs have an obligation to buy at the end of June.

In other news, a pundit has claimed this may be the real reason for Antonio Conte controversy after source’s reveal.
