Cristiano Ronaldo cited as Crystal Palace star approached over move – ‘so much money’, says pundit
Crystal Palace star Wilfred Zaha is not cut out for a move to Saudi Arabia.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie has claimed that the Palace forward does not have the same pedigree to make a similar move to Cristiano Ronaldo and N’Golo Kante.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (6 June), Al Nassr has approached Zaha about a potential transfer to the Saudi league, but an agreement is still yet to be reached.
This comes after mega stars such as Ronaldo, Kante and Karim Benzema have all made the move to Saudi Arabia over the last couple of windows.
The 30-year-old’s current contract at Crystal Palace expires at the end of the month after signing an extension in 2018.
With a potential move on the cards, McAvennie is convinced that Zaha’s lack of stardom means that a move will have less of an impact than other stars that have recently made a move to the Saudi league.
“When it comes to Zaha, he will not be great for marketing” He told Football Insider.
“Zaha will not be able to sell merchandise as Ronaldo and Benzema.

“Fans are not going to go to matches to see Zaha, they’re going to games to see Ronaldo and Benzema and even Kante because they are top stars.
“There is so much money to be offered that players will always go there, no matter who they are as the opportunity is too good to turn down.”
