Cristiano Ronaldo cited as ‘huge’ Man United new signing claim made by pundit
Alan Hutton has claimed it’s a “huge” task for Goncalo Ramos to replace Cristiano Ronaldo at Man United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa right-back said Ramos looks a top talent after watching him at the World Cup.
According to ESPN (14 December), the Red Devils are set to make an enquiry about 21-year-old Ramos ahead of the January window.
But it is believed Erik ten Hag has been told it’s not certain that a striker will arrive in January.
United are looking to add a forward in the winter window to replace Ronaldo.
Ramos has just over four years left on his Benfica contract.
Ronaldo left Old Trafford after an agreement was reached with the club during the World Cup break.
Ramos replaced Ronaldo for Portugal in their round of 16 game against Switzerland during the World Cup.
The youngster scored a hattrick in the 6-1 victory.
But Hutton said Ramos is not ready to be Ronaldo’s direct replacement.
“We are talking about one of the best players to play the game ever,” he told Football Insider.
“There is Ramos thrust into the limelight, replaced Ronaldo scores a hattrick. The next minute Man United are interested.

“I think it is a huge ask at this moment in time to go to one of the biggest teams, to replace a guy like that. Has he got the ability if he keeps working hard? Of course he does, he looks a good player.
“We will have to see but at this moment in time who knows. It is obviously a risk to sign any player that you don’t know too much about but he has definitely got potential.“
