Cristiano Ronaldo demanding ‘huge’ signings at Man United after ‘speaking to Erik ten Hag’ – pundit
Frank McAvennie has claimed Cristiano Ronaldo will be “demanding” Man United bring in “huge” incomings this summer after Erik ten Hag confirmed he will stay at Old Trafford.
The former Celtic and West Ham striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Red Devils must draft in players who match the 37-year-old’s “ambition” as a “serial winner”.
As quoted by The Independent (23 May), Ten Hag confirmed Ronaldo will remain a Man United player next season and revealed plans to speak with the legendary forward.
The former Ajax boss, who has signed a three-year deal at Old Trafford, hailed the “magnificent footballer and a true winner” – adding “I can’t wait to start working with him [Ronaldo]”.
Ronaldo, who is contracted until June 2023, netted 24 goals as Man United limped to a sixth-place finish.
McAvennie insisted Ten Hag will need the striker “in his corner” ahead of his first season in England.
“First thing he’s got to do is get the players on his side,” he told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“The main guy in the dressing room is Ronaldo, and he wants to keep him around. He’s got to go and speak to him now – and he may well have already done so over Zoom.
“He’s got to get hold of him, because he’s exactly the sort of player you need in your corner.
“Anthony Martial and those kinds of guys will soon be back around the first team. He’s got to move them on quickly. He needs to bring in big players.
“Let’s be honest, Man United are still among the biggest clubs in the world. So they’ve got to be in the market for these huge players.

“Ronaldo will be demanding that.
“He needs people around him who match his ambition – he’s a serial winner.”
