Cristiano Ronaldo: New Man United manager tipped to force superstar out after news in last 24 hours

Danny Mills has tipped Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Man United in the summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England defender claimed the new manager will not the “headache” Ronaldo is currently giving Ralf Rangnick and will try to engineer a move.

The Manchester Evening News reported yesterday (5 March) the superstar forward was not with the squad as they met at the team hotel ahead of their clash with Man City this afternoon (6 March).

It comes after the same outlet reported on Monday (28 February) that Rangnick has major doubts over him leading the line next season.

Ronaldo has found the net just once in his last 10 United games across all competitions and offers little without his goalscoring.

“As much of an icon of the game and a legend of the game that he is, has he taken Man United to the next level and done what they thought he was going to do? No, that would be the answer,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Sometimes you have to look at it and move on and go in a different direction. It wouldn’t surprise me if a new manager comes in and thinks ‘I don’t need this headache, I don’t need this hassle. So if we can move Cristiano Ronaldo on at 37-years-old, yes’.

“I can see that happening.”

Ronaldo is under contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2023 after his move from Juventus last year (2021).

He has scored 15 times and provided three assists in 30 United games across all competitions this season.
