Cristiano Ronaldo: Man United man slammed after picture emerges in last 24 hours – pundit

Kevin Campbell has slammed Man United interim boss Ralf Rangnick for his comments about Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League striker insisted problems should be dealt with internally rather than in the media.

Ronaldo was absent from the Man United squad which lost to Man City last Sunday with a hip flexor problem.

As quoted by Sky Sports (7 March), Rangnick suggested the striker may not be injured when he said “I cannot force a player to play”.

As pictured on his personal Instagram (10 March), Ronaldo was back out on the grass doing individual work ahead of Saturday’s visit of Tottenham.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of the situation, Campbell said: “Look, Ronaldo has sat on the bench before.

“I just don’t see it being a case of him faking injury.

“When Rangnick comes out like, ‘I can’t force players to play.’ That puts more doubt in people’s head. That should not be coming out of his mouth.

“He has picked his team. If someone is injured, they’re injured. If you do need to deal with something, deal with it internally.

“Do not come out and say things like that. He’s an experienced man. He should not be saying things like that as far as I’m concerned.”

Ronaldo has contributed 15 goals and three assists in 31 games across all competitions this season.

However, he has scored just once in his last eight Premier League appearances.
