‘Cristiano Ronaldo set for huge role in Bruno Fernandes’ £100m Man United decision’

Bruno Fernandes could potentially leave Manchester United this summer, and Red Devils legend Cristiano Ronaldo may have a big part to play in his decision.

It has been a woeful season for Ruben Amorim’s side, who are guaranteed their worst-ever Premier League finish, as they cannot end the campaign higher than 14th.

To add salt to the wound, Tottenham beat United 1-0 in the Europa League final, meaning the Red Devils not only finish the season trophyless but also miss out on a place in the Champions League.

United lost out on a £100m as a result of their defeat to Spurs, and it is well known that money is running dry at Old Trafford.

To try and raise some funds, Fernandes could be leaving Man United this summer, with a number of Saudi Arabian clubs interested.

Ronaldo to convince Fernandes to leave

Of course, the question remains whether Fernandes wants to abandon his career in the Premier League at just 30 years of age, and make the switch to the less competitive Saudi Pro League.

One player who has already completed the move to the Middle East is former Man United icon Ronaldo, who left Old Trafford to join Al Nassr at the end of 2022.

The 40-year-old is a teammate of Fernandes on the Portugal national team, and may sell the benefits of the move to the midfielder.

Ronaldo’s own future is in doubt, with his Al Nassr contract set to expire in the summer, and the former Real Madrid man could be departing the Saudi club at the end of the season.

United can build around Fernandes

As Jim Ratcliffe continues his cost-cutting measures at Man United, it looks likely that a lot of the high-paid players will be leaving Old Trafford this summer.

Amorim will remain in charge despite the Europa League final defeat, and the Portuguese manager will want to clear out the deadwood in his squad.

However, Fernandes has been United’s saviour at times this season, and without his contributions, they would genuinely be fighting relegation.

In a squad that’s rammed with players who lack motivation, the midfielder brings fight and commitment, as well as technical quality.

The Portuguese international is not always on form, but if a team of competent players were built around him, then Fernandes and Man United could thrive.
