Crystal Palace close in on ‘fantastic’ Jean-Philippe Mateta replacement after latest transfer news
Crystal Palace have emerged among the favourites to sign Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen this month.
Wolves are reportedly looking for £40million for Strand Larsen, who is keen to leave Molineux in the coming months.
The striker signed a new contract in the summer, but he is eager to extend his stay in the Premier League amid the impending relegation facing Rob Edwards‘ team.
Everton have been linked with Strand Larsen, although Thierno Barry has found his feet in recent weeks and could be prioritised by David Moyes.
Nottingham Forest are also strong contenders for Strand Larsen, as they look to replicate the presence of Chris Wood.
Odds slashed in bookies’ race for Jorgen Strand Larsen
Jean-Philippe Mateta looks set to leave Palace in the coming months, and he could even depart before the end of January.
The striker has reportedly asked to leave Selhurst Park, with Aston Villa and Juventus among the interested clubs.
The Eagles have already lost Marc Guehi to Man City this month, and are set to lose Oliver Glasner in the summer as well.

But decision-makers are keen to respond to the month’s disappointments by entering the race for Strand Larsen.
Palace have reportedly made an enquiry for the 25-year-old, who has scored six goals in 24 games across all competitions this season.
Wolves rejected bids from Newcastle United in the summer for Strand Larsen, with the second offer reportedly worth as much as £55m.
Decision-makers at Molineux will be aware that the Norway international will not attract a fee to the same level this month, but will hope to receive a significant figure.

Palace’s odds of signing Strand Larsen this month have been slashed to 6/4, with Leeds United (5/2), Nottingham Forest (4/1) and West Ham (12/1) falling behind in the race.
What Vitor Pereira said about Strand Larsen will excite Palace fans
Vitor Pereira was sacked by Wolves in November, but Strand Larsen’s best form undoubtedly came under the 57-year-old.
As Pereira’s team went on a stunning six-game winning streak to confirm their safety, the Norway international was key.
The 25-year-old scored six goals in six games, including winners against Southampton, West Ham, and Ipswich Town.
Speaking after his brace at St Mary’s Stadium in March, Pereira said: “Strand Larsen was fantastic, not only with his two goals but with the way he helped the team. Today he felt more confident. I think he was fantastic, and he deserves it.”
