Crystal Palace could beat Man United to hire ‘very impressive’ Oliver Glasner replacement
Crystal Palace have joined the likes of Man United and Tottenham in considering a move to appoint Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola in the summer.
In what would be considered an ambitious move by the Eagles, they are keeping a close eye on the Spaniard’s contract situation at the Vitality Stadium.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Iraola is one of a number of managers being considered at Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace are seen as an attractive prospect for a number of managers following their FA Cup victory and a shot at winning the Conference League.
Should the Eagles qualify for the Europa League next season via the Conference League, it will only add to their pulling power in the race to appoint a new permanent boss.
Crystal Palace join race to land Andoni Iraola
Since Oliver Glasner confirmed he would leave Crystal Palace upon the expiry of his contract, a number of potential options have been considered at Selhurst Park.
The likes of Roger Schmidt, Jose Bordalas and Inigo Perez are also being linked with the role, with Iraola emerging as a more optimistic option among them.
Iraola is on Man United’s managerial shortlist following Ruben Amorim’s dismissal, but there is a feeling Palace could tempt him to move to Selhurst Park.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Iraola again is a very impressive manager, and he’s done a great job of Bournemouth.
“Palace are one of a number of clubs who are looking at his contract situation, knowing that he is a free agent in the summer.
“He could be a real good fit for Palace, he’s Premier League proven and a top young manager who plays very expansive attacking football as well.
“He’s seen as somebody who could take the reins at Selhurst Park and pick up where Glasner leaves off at the end of the season, but there will be a lot of competition for his signature in the summer if he doesn’t agree a new deal at Bournemouth.

“Crystal Palace are an attractive club for any manager out there, they’re established as a Premier League club, they’re obviously challenging for silverware now, having won the FA Cup last year.
“They’ll be hoping they can win the Conference League as well and be competing in Europe again next season.
“So it’s still an attractive proposition for a lot of managers and I’m sure the club will be looking to find the right man to replace Oliver Glasner.”
Frank Lampard to Crystal Palace? Coventry stance revealed
Another manager who is believed to be on Crystal Palace’s radar is Frank Lampard, who is currently enjoying a strong season with Coventry City.
The boss’ stock has continued to rise since taking over at the CBS Arena, where he has led Coventry to the top of the Championship as things stand.
However, Football Insider revealed on 23 January that Coventry are doing everything to keep Lampard and put off interest from multiple Premier League suitors.

West Ham are also considering Lampard as a potential replacement for Nuno Espirito Santo, who is under intense pressure at the London Stadium.
However, Coventry are hopeful that they can achieve promotion this season and rule out any interest in their manager by graduating to the Premier League.
