Crystal Palace fans explode at ‘atrocious’ Sam Barrott after ‘shocking’ decision vs Fulham

Crystal Palace fans have been left raging at referee Sam Barrott after his “atrocious” display during their Premier League win against Fulham.

Oliver Glasner‘s side won 2-1, having gone into half-time with the score level at 1-1 after Eddie Nketiah‘s opening goal was cancelled out by a wonder strike from Harry Wilson.

The second half saw Emile Smith Rowe‘s finish ruled out by VAR for an offside against Samuel Chukwueze, before Marc Guehi headed home the winner.

The game was underlined by a frustrating performance from Barrott, who gave a number of inconsistent decisions both ways, leaving the Craven Cottage crowd frustrated.

As a result, large sections of the fanbase took to social media to express their grievances off the back of a disappointing result for Glasner’s side.

The biggest flash point in terms of the referee’s decision-making came in the first half, when Joachim Andersen collided with Nathaniel Clyne on the edge of the box.

Replays of the incident showed the foul had been made on the line, which would have seen a penalty awarded, but the referee gave no foul and VAR agreed.

Other decisions by the officiating team were also called into question, with a debatable throw-in awarded to Fulham in the build-up to Wilson’s strike.

Those major calls kickstarted the fans’ frustrations, and combined with a series of 50-50 decisions which went against the Eagles, questions are being asked.

Barrott is no stranger to a controversial decision against Palace, having disallowed Eberechi Eze‘s free-kick goal during their season opener against Brentford in 2024-25.

That was highlighted by numerous fans on social media, who have questioned the referee’s quality and decision-making particularly against their side.

Taking to X during and following the game, Palace fans expressed their frustrations, as the referee’s performance was labelled “atrocious” and “shocking”.
