Crystal Palace fans fume at Brennan Johnson as ‘poor’ stats emerge vs AEK Larnaca

Crystal Palace fans are far from happy after their 0-0 draw with AEK Larnaca on Thursday night.

The Eagles are the comfortable favourites for the Europa Conference League, yet could score a single goal in the first leg of the round of 16 tie.

Many players were below par at Selhurst Park, as the crowd were once again treated to a blunt attacking display.

As a result, many supporters take aim at the players, with Brennan Johnson, who has been terrible for Palace since signing in the winter window, taking a chunk of the criticism.

Crystal Palace fans slam Brennan Johnson after draw vs AEK Larnaca

Johnson has no doubt struggled since his big-money move to Palace.

The attacker is yet to find the net for the Eagles, with his only goal contributions being two assists.

This has resulted in the winger being benched for many games already under Oliver Glasner as he looks to end his Palace reign on a high.

However, the Wales international was given a chance to impress on Thursday, an opportunity which he failed to take.

Now, many Palace fans have been quick to criticise Johnson’s performance on X, with the club now at serious risk of crashing out of the Conference League early.

How bad was Johnson vs AEK Larnaca?

According to Fotmob on 12 March, Johnson did not have a terrible game in the Conference League on Thursday.

The attacker completed 93 per cent of his passes, created two chances, had one shot at goal and completed all of his dribbles.

However, he did only complete three of his 12 attempted crosses, had only two touches in the opposition box, and failed to hit the target with his effort on goal.

Nevertheless, it is clear that Johnson must improve if he wants to have a big impact at Selhurst Park.

While nearly everyone was poor against AEK Larnaca, this is a game Johnson should be dominating and taking the lead in attack.

Instead, he, like many other Palace players looked blunt and out of ideas in many moments.

Only time will tell if they are able to bounce back in Cyprus next week, or if the match will prove to be the end of the Eagles’ run in Europe.
