Crystal Palace could be 'forced' to accept Liverpool's 'huge' Ismaila Sarr offer

Liverpool are edging closer to an agreement with Crystal Palace to sign Ismaila Sarr with a "huge" offer likely to be accepted.

Andoni Iraola has been determiend to sign a new winger all summer, and has identified the 28-year-old as a leading target, with talks ongoing behind the scenes.

Despite Palace having initially been reluctant to sell, the money being discussed for the Senegal international could force their hands despite the late timing of the move.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Crystal Palace may have no choice but to sell Sarr as he is pushing for the move to Anfield.

Liverpool saw an initial £50million offer rejected by the Eagles last week, but are prepared to return with an improved bid as they edge closer to the winger's asking price.

Sarr has been outstanding for Crystal Palace over the last two seasons, and while Pierre Sage has been reluctant to see him leave, they are now in a difficult position.

Could Liverpool make a new offer for Ismaila Sarr?

Brown told Football Insider earlier this month that Crystal Palace had not ruled out selling Sarr amid a belief that the right offer could force the Eagles to let him go.

Despite having been reluctant to lose a key player at this late stage of the window, an improve offer from Liverpool may prove difficult for them to turn down.

Sarr, meanwhile, is keen to make the move to Anfield and has put Palace in a difficult position as the Reds continue to push for his signature.

"Crystal Palace are in a very difficult position over Ismaila Sarr," Brown told Football Insider.

"He's been such an important player for them and he's done a fantastic job for Crystal Palace, but it's difficult when there's big money on the table, especially late in the window.

"Sarr apparently is keen to make that move, so that makes things even trickier, but from a Palace point of view they have been reluctant to let him go.

"They may have no choice, though, if Liverpool come in with a huge offer and the player wants to go.

"The money might be key for Palace, if it's the sort of fee they're unlikely to get again, because they ideally don't want to sell but it might make sense on a business level.

"So let's see what happens, because it does seem he's the player Liverpool want, he wants to make the move, it's now just about making it happen with Crystal Palace."

How do Crystal Palace feel about selling Sarr?

Crystal Palace have been clear in their stance over their best players throughout the transfer window, having been reluctant to weaken their starting XI under Sage.

Maxence Lacroix completed a move to Chelsea earlier this summer, but since then, the Eagles have been keen to block departures of their most important players.

Football Insider revealed on 28 August that Crystal Palace are still hopeful of keeping Sarr and are not planning to let him go in the near future.

Sage views Sarr as a crucial part of his plans for the season, with the Eagles preparing to take part in their first-ever Europa League campaign.

However, with Liverpool lining up a new offer and the player pushing for the move, it could make it very difficult for Crystal Palace to stand by their orignial plans.
