Sources: Crystal Palace's updated stance on Ismaila Sarr exit after Liverpool offer
Crystal Palace have no plans to sell Ismaila Sarr after they rejected an offer from Liverpool, sources have told Football Insider.
Andoni Iraola's side tabled a £50million offer for the 28-year-old earlier this week, which was immediately turned down by the Eagles, but could yet return with an improved bid.
Despite the growing level of interest in the Senegal international, however, Crystal Palace are extremely reluctant to lose their star man this late in the transfer window
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Crystal Palace are hopeful of keeping Sarr and plan to rebuff any new offers from Liverpool.
Andoni Iraola is keen to add a new winger to his side in the closing stages of the window, and the Palace man's displays over the last 12 months have placed him high on the list.
However, Pierre Sage views Sarr as a crucial part of his plans for the season, with the Eagles preparing to take part in their first-ever Europa League campaign.
How do Crystal Palace feel about selling Ismaila Sarr?
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 27 August that Crystal Palace are standing firm over Sarr's future and do not wish to see him leave.
Liverpool are not the only club to show an interest in the Senegal international, however, with Galatasaray and Saudi Pro League clubs also eyeing his situation.
Despite that, Sage hopes to keep the bulk of his squad together alongside some new additions ahead of what he hopes will be another successful season in South London.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Crystal Palace don't really want to lose Sarr, so that's why they've quickly turned down Liverpool's opening offer for him.
"So it's going to be an interesting few days to see if Palace can keep hold of Sarr, because his future has been the subject of speculation most of this summer window.
"Galatasaray are also showing an interest in the Senegal international, and there has been talk about interest from the Saudi Pro League as well.
"So, yeah, I don't think Liverpool's interest in Sarr has gone away because they're looking two wingers before the transfer window closes."
What does Crystal Palace's stance mean for Liverpool's plans?
Liverpool are determined to add a new winger to their squad in the closing stages of the transfer window, and their £50million offer for Sarr shows they are willing to spend big.
Despite the Eagles having turned down the big-money offer, the Reds could return with a fresh bid, while they also have a number of alternatives on their radar.
Football Insider revealed on 22 August that Liverpool are still prioritising a move to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola after weeks of intense negotiations.
A deal is now believed to have been agreed in priciple for the France international, with Liverpool closing in on a total agreement for him to move to Anfield.
Barcola is not expected to be the only new arrival on the wing, and Sarr remains a key target, but Palace's stance is unlikely to derail Liverpool's window.
